North Georgia Jeep Adventure Challenges

 

🌲 CHALLENGE 11: Forest & Fire Tower Run

Area: Dawsonville → Dawson Forest WMA → Fire Tower Ridge
Time: 3–5 hours
Difficulty: Easy to moderate

📍 Start: Dawsonville Pool Room

Task 1 — Dawsonville Kickoff
Take a photo of your Jeep outside the legendary Dawsonville burger joint.

Order a Bulldog burger or chili dog to fuel the adventure.

Jeep-Friendly Coffee Options (Start Area)
Stop before heading to the forest:

The Blue Bicycle — Great coffee and pastries with nearby street parking.

Local convenience stops along GA-9 — Grab trail snacks and drinks.

Jeep-Friendly Shops Near Start

Dawsonville Antiques Market — Fun roadside browsing and parking lot space.

North Georgia Premium Outlets (quick detour) — Large lots for gear stops.

📍 Dawson Forest Wildlife Management Area

Task 2 — Enter the Forest
Cross into Dawson Forest and take a photo of your Jeep at the WMA entrance sign.

Task 3 — Gravel Road Discovery
Drive at least two forest gravel roads inside the WMA.

Look for wildlife like deer, hawks, or wild turkey.

Optional Photo
Take a dust trail Jeep shot on a gravel road.

📍 Dawson Forest Fire Tower Area

Task 4 — Ridgeline Jeep Shot
Climb toward the old fire tower area and capture a Jeep photo with the mountains behind it.

Task 5 — Steward Moment
Pick up three pieces of trash from a roadside pull-off.

☕ Optional Snack Stop (After Trails)

Stop for ice cream at Bruster's in Dawsonville.

🏁 Finish

Take a final Jeep photo near the Etowah River or downtown Dawsonville.

Celebrate completing the forest run.

Directions for Challenge #1

ROUTE PLAN: Dawsonville → Dawson Forest Road → Fire Tower Area → Return to Dawsonville

START: Pool Room
Address: 9 Bill Elliott St, Dawsonville

Begin in downtown Dawsonville.

STOP 1: Dawson Forest Entrance
From downtown Dawsonville, head north on GA-9.
Turn RIGHT onto Dawson Forest Road East.
Drive approximately 5 miles to reach the Wildlife Management Area entrance.

STOP 2: Dawson Forest Interior Roads

Continue inside the WMA and explore marked gravel forest roads.
Expect loose gravel, wooded hills, and occasional muddy spots after rain.

Popular routes include:
Forest interior roads near the fire tower ridge area.

STOP 3: Fire Tower Ridge Area

Climb higher into the forest to reach scenic ridge viewpoints.
Parking pull-offs allow for Jeep photos and quick hikes.

RETURN: Dawsonville

Follow Dawson Forest Road back to GA-9.
Return south into downtown Dawsonville for food or drinks.
