šŸ”ļø CHALLENGE 12: Amicalola Gravel & Waterfall Loop

Area: Dawsonville → Amicalola Falls → Nimblewill Backroads
Time: 4–6 hours
Difficulty: Easy scenic adventure

šŸ“ Start: Papa's Place

Task 1 — Grab a hearty breakfast to start the day.
Take a photo of your Jeep outside the restaurant.

Jeep-Friendly Coffee Options (Start Area)

BW Blacksmith Coffee Co. — Coffee, burgers, sandwiches and quick bites. 

Convenience stores along GA-53 for trail snacks.

šŸ“ Amicalola Falls State Park

Task 2 — Waterfall Mission
Visit the tallest waterfall in Georgia.

Take a Jeep photo with the Amicalola Falls park sign.

Optional short hike to a viewing platform.

šŸ“ Nimblewill / Forest Service Roads

Task 3 — Gravel Adventure
Drive portions of Nimblewill Church Road or nearby forest service roads.

Expect:
Gravel mountain roads
Shaded forest corridors
Small creek crossings

Photo Challenge
Capture a Jeep on a winding gravel mountain road.

šŸ“ Scenic Ridge Pull-Offs

Task 4 — Mountain View Stop
Find a ridge overlook and take a panoramic Jeep photo.

Task 5 — Quiet Moment
Turn off the engine for one minute and listen to the forest.

šŸ½ļø Late Lunch Options

Back in Dawsonville:

52 West Brewing Company -- Outside seating and a cow

OR

Pool Room — Classic burgers and chili dogs.

šŸ Finish

Take a final Jeep adventure photo in downtown Dawsonville.

Optional souvenir: grab a Dawsonville or North Georgia sticker.

Directions for Challenge #2

ROUTE PLAN: Dawsonville → Amicalola Falls → Nimblewill Area → Return to Dawsonville

START: Big D’s BBQ
Address: 230 GA-53, Dawsonville

Begin on GA-53 heading west.

STOP 1: Amicalola Falls State Park

Drive west on GA-53 approximately 12 miles.
Follow signs to Amicalola Falls State Park.
Enter the park and continue to waterfall viewing areas.

STOP 2: Nimblewill Church Road Area

From the park, head toward Nimblewill Church Road.
This road leads into scenic gravel and forest areas.

Expect narrow mountain roads and light off-road conditions.

STOP 3: Scenic Forest Roads

Explore forest service roads branching off Nimblewill.
Look for ridge views and quiet forest pull-offs.

RETURN: Dawsonville

Follow Nimblewill roads back toward GA-52 or GA-53.
Drive east back into Dawsonville to complete the loop.
